so it\'s a paradox: forcing higher paid employees to accept overtime and firing lower paid ones. costs them less than 2 salaries. perhaps to push to the limit these and at some pt they will leave too by themselves? exausted with no more contract btw no more pension etc because that is a certitude: VZ will NOT negocite: their way or the highway. nevertheless they are firing people with nice income (FTechs) still, more and more

VCS was the lower paid employees. They kept people who make $10 or $20 more an hour to do the work. They started VCS so they could pay lower wages for the copper work and they are now getting rid of all of them but 20. They are forced overtime more than half the year, but there isn\'t enough work. 10 - 15 hours above their 40 and some times more when they decide to declare an emergency. So I guess they will pay the higher paid employees overtime which is triple time plus compared to the VCS to do the work that \"doesn\'t exist\"...hmmm

  • Re: VCS LAYOFFS

I have just under 5 years with VCS, as do the majority of us that are being laid off. Our pensions aren\'t worth anything at this point, last I checked it was about $8,000 but in the letter we received it said nothing about being able to access it. So we got today off, paid, and 60 days of employment left with April 3rd our last day on payroll. Funny part is in December we were told that not only were we budgeted for the entire year, but there was money set aside for the opening of a larger garage. Suddenly they forget saying that. I can\'t help but to think that this is a bargaining tactic because once VCS is laid off the core technicians no longer have layoff protection, so they are next.

  • Trying to get a Razr Maxx
    Sat, 04 Feb 2012 17:45:52 GMT
Hey all, I currently have a droid razr, and the battery life per my usage is just not very acceptable. I am just outside my return window by about 5 days. Is there anyway that I can somehow get a Razr maxx instead of the Razr I have. Would it be possible to convince a cs rep that the battery life is unacceptable and I need a different phone? Would they possibly give me a Razr Maxx?

  • Verizon Upgrading from Droid X to Droid Razr- Question about Data Plan
    Sat, 04 Feb 2012 07:41:02 GMT
Hi! I\'m not sure if i\'m posting this in the correct forum. I currently have a Droid X and I would like to upgrade to a Droid Razr. I have a 3G unlimited data plan that I would like to keep. But looking at the Verizon website the Razr is a 4G phone. Would I loose my $30 unlimited data deal if I go through with the upgrade? I know Verizon offers higher data plans for more $$ but alas I\'m on a relatively strict budget. Thanks.

If you order a phone online, does the 14 day exchange policy start when you receive/activate the phone, or when you order it? And do you have to have it back to them within 14 days, or is that just when you have to ship it back by?
  • cell phone for business
    Fri, 03 Feb 2012 03:28:52 GMT
Does Verizon have any regulations about using wireless phones for business use? I\'m working on starting my own little business, but my local phone company charges a fortune for a business landline. What I was told at a Verizon store is I would have to get a phone in my name and sign the contract myself, since I\'m in the process of starting the business and relying on my own credit. Is this correct? Since I\'m just testing the waters here, I asked if I could put the business phone on prepaid and they said business use of a prepaid would be against the TOS, prepaid is for personal use only. Right now I\'m just wanting to make sure I\'m not going to get into trouble because I\'m going to be taking out a yellow pages ad, printing business cards, and getting some newspaper adds with my phone number. We\'ll even be getting the phone number on the website and several other places online. Would Verizon be more inclined to allow me to set up an account in the business name if I purchased a basic phone without a contract from eBay? Would it be better just to play along with what they said and set it up with my own name and home address? I already have a personal cell, but I don\'t want customers calling it 24/7 so I want a separate phone number for the business. What would be my best option? Since I\'m just testing the waters, I have no clue what the call volume might be.

  • Verizon How are bars on your cell phone not a true indication of coverage?
    Thu, 02 Feb 2012 21:29:55 GMT
Hi ya\'ll it\'s me again with another question. I have read a couple of forums where some people say that "Bars are not a true indication of how good your coverage is". My question is how though? What I don\'t understand is how people with no bars are able to still make crystal clear phone calls as if they had full bars and people with full bars can try to make a call but it drops. Why does that happen? I\'m just curious so I thought I would ask. Thanks!
  • mobile hotspot
    Thu, 02 Feb 2012 14:56:37 GMT
I currently have the unlimited data plan on my Rezound and a MiFi for internet at home. When the contract on the MiFi expires I am thinking of dropping it and just using the mobile hot spot feature of my Rezound. After I signed for the MiFi it occured to me that it was foolish to pay $30 a month for 3gb when I could have payed the same for unlimited through the hot spot on my Incredible. I unfortunately thought this several months afterward and had no way out. When I have Verizon add the Hot Spot feature, will I still be able to keep my unlimited data and only pay the $29.99 for the feature?

  • Removing voice plan and keeping data
    Wed, 01 Feb 2012 10:40:38 GMT
If I have unlimited data can I remove my voice plan? I don\'t really talk on the minutes that much and just want to keep my data and get rid of my voice plan? Anyone have any luck asking them to remove it? Also, what if you are out of contract can they let you take it off? I also have a second question: If I have a verizon line and an at&t, can i cancel my at&t line and make my verizon line have the at&t phone number? basically change my current verizon phone number to my at&t number? thanks

I\'m thinking of trading in some older VZW phones I have sitting around and making a little money. On their site, it states I have to return the phone. What about the charger or memory card that came with the phone? Do I also need to include that? https://www.trade-in.vzw.com/home.aspx

  • Question about warranties/insurance
    Tue, 31 Jan 2012 04:44:01 GMT
Fortunately in the past 15 years or so I have had cell phones, I have never bought insurance and never damaged or lost one, and actually can\'t even remember dropping one on concrete or somewhere where it would break. I also have never had problems with any that stopped working or were buggy or anything. (Of course this means tomorrow mine is going to break into a hundred pieces when I drop it on the concrete!) Anyways, I don\'t think insurance is necessary because I am careful but my luck may run out eventually when it comes to a phone finally malfunctioning. So first of all, do all phones pretty much come with a one year warranty? If that is the case, my credit card doubles manufacturer\'s warranties so I should be covered for 2 years. But if something does go wrong, how is it usually handled? Do you have to mail it in and then get a replacement? Or can you bring it to a Verizon store? Or do they try to fix it? Does it apply if it just stops working, or does it also apply if you just constantly have trouble with it, like software issues? I am just checking here before something happens. Downtime really isn\'t a problem because I always keep an older phone in case I need it for that reason. Thanks.
