Previously, I explained in a post how my sister will be traveling to study in Chile for the fall semester.  She has a Blackberry Curve (no wifi) on our plan.  She also has a iPod 3G (with wifi).  I was trying to determine her options for communicating with the family.    She will have a phone in her dorm room...but it isn\'t for international calls.    I considered Skype as an option...perhaps on her iPod (with wifi) AND her laptop.  This might be an option.    But I was wondering if Google Voice might have some program that would be useful.    Any ideas?  :fingers:  ');

I use my jailbroken iPhone sometimes, and mostly my Blackberry with T-mobile network.    The line is used mostly for my business. I  use the Sprint phone as my personal phone for family / friends.  However, with the advent of Google Voice, I can have my own "personal" phone number forwarded to the T-mobile phone, use it for text, etc.  The only thing I do not have so far with T-mobile is a GSM Android phone.  I love Android the best out of all of the phones I\'ve used, so I would miss it a lot.  Having said that, I have a pretty great plan with Sprint - 450 ED plan, 25% discount, free pick 3.  I get an upgrade every 12 months, so I can get my Android device fix with Sprint.  The other benefit is as I travel for work, I can have two carriers / networks as back up, so if T-mobile is spotty, I can turn to my Sprint phone, and vice versa.  But I\'m paying roughly ~$60 - ~$70 per month just for the joy of having an Android phone on Sprint, and having a back up cell phone just in case.  With the T-mobile phone, with the unlimited data / text / voice, and UMA (free wifi connectivity backup), it\'s hard to justify continuing to spend $60 - $70 per month for a Sprint back up...  However I don\'t want to leave Sprint, because I love my Sprint Android options...  What do you all think? Stick with Sprint and spend the $700 - $800 per year or should I save that money, go buy a Vibrant for full price, and just swap phones at my whim with T-mobile?  ');

I know there\'s Air Rave with Sprint, which they charge money for, but why can\'t / won\'t they offer something like UMA so that your Sprint phone can connect to any wifi hotspot and use it for calls / text / data?  That would solve a lot of complaints about coverage, the subscribers would be a lot happier, and roaming would go down significantly.  Sounds likes a win-win for everyone.... document.write('So it looks like the iPhone is coming to the CDMA world. Qualcomm has advertised for iPhone developers, and since they make the chipset for CDMA radios it\'s not a stretch to imagine that all the rumors of Verizon and the iPhone are true. And  it\'s a well known fact that Apple originally approached Verizon first about the iPhone but Verizon told His Steveness to take his demands and cram them.   Apple has no plans to abandon AT&T, and in fact will fulfill the terms of the exclusivity agreement they gave AT&T. But in another year that deal ends. They\'ll continue their relationship with AT&T but will be free to expand it beyond one U.S. carrier. Apple knows there are significant sales to be had with Verizon and that it would be foolish to ignore all those potential Maclots (Mac Zealots). With Android making such huge inroads in the marketplace it looks like this exclusivity with AT&T opened the door for Google\'s OS. To Google\'s credit, they saw how Apple created an entire ecosystem for the iPhone and followed that model for Android. Apple\'s short-term gain with AT&T, getting all kinds of money for each iPhone and iPhone contract sold, may have come at a steep price: allowing a competitor to gain more than just a toe hold.   Another factor in Apple\'s desire to branch out from AT&T is the bad publicity they get from being on a network with all the problems we\'ve heard about, even if their own product caused the saturation responsible. AT&T misjudged the demand for the iPhone and the toll that would take on their systems. No matter whose fault, it looks bad for both AT&T and Apple when there are problems and iPhone users cannot get a data connection, or suffer extremely slow network speeds.   The iPhone will come to Verizon first in the CDMA world, but with a short exclusivity period. I\'m hearing 6 months, tops. After that the door would be open for Sprint. The rumor is that the iPhone will have slightly different features for each carrier, much like Samsung\'s Galaxy S phones.   Will Sprint even want the iPhone then? I suppose it will hinge on how hot the iPhone remains by then, and also on how hot Android is at that time. I see a very good chance that if Android remans as strong as it is now and continues to make inroads, Sprint may pass altogether on the iPhone and concentrate on Android.  ');

So my question is IF i add a new line and purchase the EVO at 199$ out of the door at Bestbuy or Radio Shack and activate it on my new line can i switch the EVO to my primary line that isnt eligible for an upgrade? And possibly just switch one of my older Sprint phones to my line I just added? People have told me I can do it but I will not be able to get the MIR, but that\'s why I\'d purchase from BestBuy or Radio Shack where they give instant rebates. I just want to make sure if I do this I won\'t be charged or anything.
