The Tea Party has made a serious effort to distance themselves from the most rabid elements of their former constituency. Whether or not the name-calling abates as a result of this tactic remains to be seen- but the effort is at least being made to enter into serious contention as an alternative to mainstream politics. It\'s an interesting footnote to the era- and I welcome the fact that someone- anyone- is challenging the established ways of doing things. \"Business as usual\" is killing us.

Also remember that Sprint hs all debt paid for 2010 and has almost $4 BILLION in CASH, more than enough to wipe all future debt out. This is a classic shake and bake before the BIG NEWS comes out. Mark this post, SOMETHING HUGE IS IN THE WORKS AND HAS BEEN SINCE SPRINT TOOK COMPLETE OWNERSHIP OF 4G. Who knows, maybe T is teh buyer. That is the unknown. Stricter unlocking policy?

So my family will be in Canada for 10 days and I\'m going to need to have e-mail services on the go for work and school. I\'ve decided against all of at&t\'s international data packages because some of my e-mails are pretty large. Anyhow, we\'ve got an old BlackBerry Bold 9000 that\'s just sitting around. Now Business Customer Care is usually pretty good about unlocking phones; in fact, they\'ve unlocked 4 phones from me in the past 2 years since we travel internationally a lot. Plus, we\'ve been with at&t for YEARS, have a FAN discount, and also the World Traveler (or whatever it\'s called) international add-on. Well, I called yesterday to get that Bold unlocked so I can buy a prepaid SIM from Koodo in Canada for e-mail to be delivered to that BB while we\'re there. After the CSR put the IMEI in the system, she said that it could not be unlocked. When I asked why, she said that they just don\'t unlock certain devices. Is at&t not unlocking BlackBerry devices anymore?

I want a captivate but I also want to keep my unlimited $15 data plan. If I go buy a full price Captivate from AT&T\'s store without telling them my account information, will I be able to continue on my low cost data plan, or will the Captivate identify itself on the AT&T network as a "smartphone"? What about if I buy the Captivate (or a Galaxy S) from Exapnsys?

This is a rant; felt like sharing this so you can avoid the same pitfall: Called AT&T yesterday to cancel a line on my family plan. That went smooth, and then came the iPhone data quagmire. The short version: Involuntarily switched from my grandfathered $20 iPhone Unlimited Data /w 200 text messages to the "new" $25 iPhone Data Pro 2GB (with no text messages) on my first generation iPhone. Problem resolved after an 45 minute phone call and two customer service escalations. The long version: The rep told me that my phone\'s data plan was not compatible with my iPhone. I had a first generation iPhone with $20 Data Unlimited /w 200 text messages the plan I\'ve had on this iPhone since 2007. He told me the system would "catch" me and add the appropriate iPhone data plan; He failed to tell me that he switched it right then and there to the "new" $25 2GB iPhone Data Pro plan without my consent :wow: . I found the unauthorized switch this morning when I checked my account online and promptly called AT&T to resolve the issue. The problem is that AT&T no longer offers the original $20 first generation iPhone data plan (even to newly activated first generation iPhones). They offered me the "new" $25 2GB iPhone data pro instead. I politely rejected the offer and requested my old $20 Data Unlimited with 200 text messages. A supervisor two escalations up was the only person that could re-add the grandfathered plan feature. Let\'s see if the plan sticks. Thumbs down at AT&T for deprecating their first generation iPhone customers! Thanks to the "new" Data Pro 2GB plan, I cannot upgrade my iPhone and keep unlimited data! :furious: Thumbs down at Apple too... for deprecating first generation iPhone in iOS4. :tomato: I feel screwed by AT&T and Apple on this one; that\'s what I get for buying a first generation iPhone.

I bought an iphone last month in an apple store. Today, I went to add a new line through the Premier website and just for fun I wanted to check out what is under the "current offers" link and they have these listed: Contract Discounts and Offers* $10 off One-Time Credit with $9.99 or higher Voice Plan with New Activations (expires 10/05/2010) More $50 off One-Time Credit with $39.99 or higher Voice Plan with New Activations (expires 10/05/2010) Does anyone know if these can be applied retroactively to my line 1? I am sure these were present last month as well but since I bought the phone from apple and activated it there, they did not apply any offers on the account.

So I\'ve been using my iphone 3gs for about a year. I was getting sick of it so I picked up an HTC Aria directly from Amazon (bought it out right). Well I got the phone on Saturday and called AT&T CS to move my unlimited data to the Aria. That was taken care of. However about an hour later a friend of mine called and noticed I don\'t have regular vmail account. So I called AT&T CS again to have them add a regular vmail. That\'s where the drama began. The guy I dealt with managed to totally kill the data connection and he couldn\'t add a regular vmail. He had to submit a case. Tells me that resolution date is August 3rd......WHAT??? I get a text yesterday (Tues) telling me they\'ve resolved my issue. So I try to use email and internet.....no go. Gets better......I can\'t even access my AT&T account on the web with my log in. Have to go in through my fiancee\'s login. I call AT&T yesterday and CS can\'t do anything. Another case has to be established. As of today, I\'m still without internet, email and voicemail since Sunday. Anyone else have such a screw up with AT&T.
Grandfathered Unlimited Data Plan for iPad 3G

What\'s the best way to go about getting a Grandfathered Unlimited Data Plan for iPad 3G now that AT&T has stopped offering it? I hear some ipads are still able to activate a plan like this because they were bought before the new AT&T plans were announced, but I\'m not sure. Can someone check? Otherwise, if someone could point to someplace where I can buy/transfer this plan to me that would be great. If any HOFOers are selling theirs, I\'m willing to buy.

Hey So my sister uses a blackberry 8110, has for the last 2 years, without a data plan A month ago i saw she could add the 2gb option and 200mb option. But today i log onto OLAM and shes offered Unlimited for 30$ and another option for teathering with a 5gb cap. What gives? also noticed this on my gfs account with the same set up. Anyone else see this?
iPhone / AT&T minutes not calculating correctly

I am wondering if anyone here can explain the answer to this problem, because both my friend and I are experiencing it and both Apple and AT&T employees at their retail stores do not have an answer. Basically, my iPhone says I have spent 1 minute on a call but my AT&T account says I have spent 2 minutes on the call. So I figured it\'s just rounding up and the iPhone does not show the seconds when it goes beyond 1 minute. Now, the problem is, if I spend 55 seconds on a call, you would think it would round up to 1 minute, correct? No, it rounds up to 2 minutes. I have attached a screenshot of my account and my phone. My phone is not as bad since I barely actually talk on it. But my friend has many of these incidents where she is talking on the phone for less than a minute and it\'s coming out as 2 minutes on her bill. This is of course adding up for her very fast. Sure she could get unlimited talking, but she shouldn\'t need to if things were being calculated the way they were supposed to be.

I just signed up with att 2 weeks ago with the new iphone 4. my signal has been ok,not bad, but i dont get 3g in my area so i use EDGE. wich i am ok with. but, one minute i have a very good speedy connection then its gone. i exchanged my iphone thinking it might of been the phone, and i got the new captivate (which i love). i can have FULL signal, try to go to a webpage, or send a google voice text, and there is NO data activity. nothing. if i shut the connection off, then back on, it will work. when i run a speed test i get great speeds, but VERY high latency. my question is, when i have full bars, but NO data activity unless i restart the connection, is it a network issue, or something with my account? i called multiple times, but nothing. should i call and speak to a tech instead of a CSR? i so want to keep att becasue i love the phones, but this is very annoying... thanks for your help in advance..

That\'s the complicated thing I\'m going to have to try to convey to a lucky AT&T CSR. Here\'s the deal: I\'ve got a number that is under contract. It\'s a number I use for my business. I\'m moving into a new office - one that gets crappy coverage by anyone not named Verizon - so I need to port out my number to Verizon. At the same time, I need a line added to my account. It can be any old (new) number - it\'s not important. Is there anyway I can activate a line on Verizon and then swap numbers to my AT&T account so I have the number I actually want on Verizon? Did that make any sense AT ALL? I was looking into it and it looks like there\'s something called a "Change of Financial Responsibility". But that method looks like it keeps the number on AT&T. Surely there\'s a way to swap number between networks. Without an ETF on either line. Right?
International Roaming in Canada and Microcell questions

Hi, I have two questions. My dad is planning a switch from T-mobile prepaid to ATT postpaid and there are two things I need your help with. 1. How much does the Microcell cost if he just wants to get it without any additional plans and whatnot? Or do you have to get a plan? It seems somewhat confusing. Also, I tried hitting order yours now or whatever it was on their website and I got "The item you are searching is no longer available.". I live in 19310 zipcode btw. Is that just temporary or more long term? 2. We\'re planning a trip to Canada within next month and my question is whether needs to activate international roaming for that separately? Will they do it since he\'s just gonna be signing a contract? Thanks in advance.
